All Pets Work-Reward Them With Good Health And Kindness!!
Every pet that is loved, works for their “Pet Parents”. Don’t belittle the companionship and don’t forget the unconditional live. Many pets have important obligations and are depended upon to keep individuals safe and many more guide and help incapaciated people and other animals. At the end of the article I will give information to make sure your pet has the best and safest nutrition available for a happy and rewarding life.
Have you ever watched as a “Guide Dog” stops a blind person at a stoplight? A period of training gives a guide dog the ability to safely help someone exist in a sightless world. The guide dog also gives unconditional companionship through its bond with the owner. The owner’s safety is paramount in the working mind of the dog. These two have a relationship as great as any human relationship.
How about the safety to all of us who travel? Have you ever watched a drug or explosive sniffing dog operate at an airport? It’s a fantastic sight! Because of a dog’s super sensitive nose (approximately 400 times more sensitive than a humans) he can detect even traceable amounts of those substances. We must be thankful for the safety they afford us.
Recent studies and tests indicate that dogs can detect cancer. Remarkable and reassuring that medical science can utilize this animal ability in this day of technology.
Did you know Pets are good for your Health?
Arthritis sufferers find relief from having a dog present, possibly because of more activity required to care or nurture an animal.
Cancer patients, especially children, had reduced stress in the trauma of cancer treatments. Emotional distress was also reduced.
In a test at Brooklyn College, a test was done concerning heart attack victims that found dog owners
were eight times more likely to survive beyond a year past the attack. Possibly due to the need for walking the dog whereby gaining exercise time.
Alzheimer’s disease patients also appeared more alert and had fewer behavioral problems when a dog was a resident of the facility.
Nursing homes commonly have pets to soothe and comfort patients as well as helping with exercise programs.
Numerous books are available concerning Pets and their interaction with people and how they can also teach as well as nurture humans.
A passing note: Pets sleep when they are tired, eat when hungary and give love unconditionally. Maybe we can learn a lot from them!
We should consider very critically the foods we feed our pets. My investigation shows many raw materials are of questionable value and contain possible lethal ingredients. Never assume the label tells all the information. Investigate fully and make sure the pet foods are nutritionally healthy and be aware of the possible pharmaceuticals, preservatives and harmful items within. 25 Human Foods Toxic to your Pets
Recently, much news was published about unsafe commercial pet foods. This news, of course, sounded an alarm among pet owners. But, unfortunately, this problem isn’t really ‘news’. It seems that incidents similar to this occur from time to time. Perhaps this is one reason more and more people are opting to ‘home cook’ for their pets. However, in order to properly home-cook for your pets, you should first have a basic knowledge of canine nutrition; and, even more importantly, a thorough knowledge of human foods that are harmful to dogs. Some foods which are safe for human consumption can be poisonous for our canine companions. E-dog-training.com has put together a list of 25 common human foods that are toxic to dogs. Of course, when in doubt, always check with your vet. Here is a list to get you started:
1. Onions (Both onions and garlic contain the toxic ingredient Thiosulphate. But onions are more of a danger. Many dog biscuits contain *small* amounts of garlic – garlic contains less of this toxin so huge amounts would need to be consumed to be toxic. And, by the way, this poison builds up the system – it can be toxic in one large dose – or with repeated consumption of small amounts.)
2. Chocolate (Chocolate contains Theobromine, a compound that is a cardiac stimulant and a diuretic. This can be fatal to dogs.)
3. Grapes (Grapes are dangerous because of an unknown substance which is toxic to dogs – affects canine’s kidneys)
4. Raisins (See above.)
5. Most Fruit Pits and Seeds (Contain Cyanogenic Glycosides resulting in cyanide poisoning – though the fruit itself is OK.)
6. Macadamia Nuts (Macadamia nuts contain an unknown substance that is toxic to dogs.)
7. Most Bones should *not* be given (especially chicken bones) because they can splinter and cause laceration of the digestive system and/or become lodged in your pet’s throat – so they also pose a choking hazard.
8. Potato Peelings and Green Potatoes (Contain Oxalates, which can affect the digestive, nervous, and urinary systems.)
9. Rhubarb leaves (see above)
10. Broccoli (Broccoli is only toxic in large quantities.)
11. Green parts of Tomatoes or Green Potatoes(Contain oxalates, which can affect the digestive, nervous, and urinary systems.)
12. Yeast Dough (Yeast Dough can produce gas and swell in your pet’s stomach – leading to rupture of the digestive system)
13. Coffee/Coffee Grounds and Tea (are dangerous due to the caffeine.)
14. Beer/Wine/Alcohol of any kind (Alcohol of any kind could lead to coma or even death.)
15. Human Vitamins (Human vitamins, especially those containing iron, can cause damage to the lining of the digestive system as well as cause kidney and liver damage)
16. Moldy or Spoiled Food (though I think this goes without saying.)
17. Persimmons (Persimmons can cause intestinal blockage)
18. Raw Eggs and Raw Fish (Raw eggs and some raw fish can cause Salmonella poisoning.)
19. Salt, Baking Soda, Baking Powder (In large amounts these can cause an electrolyte imbalance – and severe electrolyte imbalances can lead to muscle spasm or even congestive heart failure.)
20. Mushrooms (Mushrooms may contain toxins which could cause liver and kidney damage)
21. Sugar-Free Foods (Sugar-free foods containing Xylitol have been found to cause liver failure in some dogs.)
22. Nutmeg (Nutmeg can cause tremors, seizures, and central nervous system damage.)
23. Excessive Fatty Foods (Excess fatty foods can cause Pancreatitis.)
24. Avocado (All parts of the avocado and avocado tree are toxic to dogs.)
25. Diary Products (Dairy products don’t usually pose a great danger; but many dairy product have high fat content (see number 23) – and many pets are lactose intolerant – some pets more than others. Lactose intolerance leads to gas and diarrhea; though small amounts of yogurt and cheese are usually fairly well tolerated.)
Keep these 25 toxic foods in mind when cooking for your dog. There may be other foods that your dog can not consume; so always ask your vet when you are unsure about anything concerning your pet. Why the World Needs Pets
They won’t hold a grudge. They won’t leave you for someone else. They know how to show their affection. They even know your feelings better than you do. Who are “they”? Well “they” go by many names, but most of the world just calls them “Pets”. Pets are wondrous creatures whose powers go beyond that of spiritual or magical. Perhaps that power is what the world needs more of.
Recently while being interviewed by a local newspaper reporter I was asked the question, “Why do you think that pets have become so popular in recent years?” I thought for a moment and then answered. “We are a nation at war, a nation still recovering from the after effects of September 11th, a nation rebuilding in the wake of a devastating hurricane in the South, all while living in a media spoon fed world with terror attacks in every news break.” I then went on to explain the key thing that separates us from our pets. “If I were to go to a human friend for emotional support, I could only expect so much. You see, they could be affected by the same negative worldly stress that depresses me. However, my pet remains unaffected.” This newspaper reporter agreed with my statement and we spent several minutes talking about the idea of “unconditional love”.
Unconditional love is a phrase that I have heard people from all walks of life relate totally to pets. I find it amazing that so many people with different backgrounds, cultures, and languages can come to this same agreement. When we are at our lowest of lows our pet will still be there. Pets fill the void in our lives.
Another incredible aspect of pets is in the case of loved ones away from home. While loved ones may be over seas fighting to preserve freedom, pets are fighting battles here on the emotional frontlines in our homes. Our pets are armed with the weapons of mass affection. A wet nose, a wagging tail, a friendly purr, and soft snuggly fur remain a strong hold of the pet arsenal. In a few short moments a pet can bring us from a face full of tears to a face full of cheers.
They always aim to please expecting nothing in return. I have never heard of a dog not loving his master because his master forgot say “I love you”, or a cat ignoring her caretaker because they got home late from work. Wait, I am talking about cats so actual results of the previous statement may vary. My point is that we could learn a tremendous amount about humility and humanity from our pets. Humans using the powers gained by observing our Pets could one day actually bring about world peace. In the mean time we take it one heart at a time.
The next time you find yourself alone, hurt, sad, or frightened, just find your furry friend, open up your heart, and let the power heal you.

Before Buying Exotic Pets
Each year millions of family pets are lost, and end up at shelters that have no idea who these pets belong to, or how to contact the owners to return the pets. But, something as simple as a pet tag that you only have to register for once, because the contact information can be updated free for the life of the pet, can almost erase this problem and reunite many pets with their families.
Questions to Ask Before for Buying Exotic Pets
Having a pet has always been found by many to be a life enriching experience. It isn’t unusual for people to have a dog or a cat as companions at home. However, there are people who aren’t content with the typical animal friends, others want the excitement and thrill that can be provided by exotic pets. Acquiring and maintaining exotic pets are not really that difficult nowadays, but if you are considering to get an exotic pet, you must first ask yourself the following questions:
Why do you want an exotic pet?
Many people consider having exotic pets because it seems to be cool to have one. However, having exotic pets is a serious decision that one must carefully examine. Many exotic pets need more care than typical pets. You should weigh all factors according to your abilities and capacities before getting any particular exotic pet.
Is it legal to keep the exotic pet?
Some animals are prohibited by law to be kept as pets. You should make sure that your area allows people to own the particular species you are eyeing before getting it. Otherwise you might have to give up your pet or be penalized for owning it. What are exotic pets like?
Do you have the capacity and ability to own the exotic pet?
Keep in mind that some pets, like a dog for example, are much more expensive to own than others. It is important that you know what you and your family can do to keep your pet healthy, happy and safe before you make any purchases.
As mentioned, most exotic pets need extra care and attention. You must be sure that you have the time, effort and money to spend caring for the exotic pet. Can you feed it? Can you provide appropriate shelter? Can you afford the Health care expenses? Owning pets, especially exotic ones, takes great responsibility, and you must be certain that you have this quality before owning one.
Can the pet live in your area?
Certain pets may be legal in your area, but they may not necessarily be able to live in your home. Some Pets might be too noisy or too rowdy to live in apartments and condominiums. Pets usually require a certain amount of space, air, and sunlight to live well and you have to be sure that your home can provide that.
Is the pet safe for you and your companions?
Pets have different levels of aggression and you must be sure that you and the people you live with can cope with the behavioral tendencies of the pet. Some exotic pets might also be poisonous or are prone to certain infectious diseases, and thus you have to make sure that you and your companions can avoid any untoward incidents.
Having exotic pets is a serious matter and you should examine everything before deciding to own one.
Some pets are stolen. A pet thief may snatch Fifi or Fido in hopes of getting a reward for its return, or to use in dog fights (even small or gentle dogs are susceptible – they can be used as “bait”), or for use in cult rituals.

Will I get caught with pets in my apartment?
The apartment I am looking into allows pets, but they charge outrageous deposits and extra rent per month. I have two cats. I am wondering if when I sign the lease I say I don’t have pets to avoid paying the deposit and extra rent. It’s an apartment complex run by a corporation so the only people coming into my apartment will be maintenance and how are they supposed to know I said I don’t have Pets on my lease? Will this work? Anyone get away with it before?
It’s better to come clean and pay the deposit and higher rent. You will sleep better at night knowing you’re doing the right thing. As long as your cats don’t wreck the apartment, you should get your deposit back. Also, if you look into other apartments that don’t charge the higher rent, they probably are not as nice because they don’t care. Good luck!
Pets: An affectionate and Perfect Companion
Pets are the best way of getting companionship, relaxation and amusement and are especially beneficial for children. Scientific studies show that kids who grow up with pets are more confident, socially adjusted and compassionate to those around them. From domestic animals like Dogs, Cats, Birds, Fish, small animals such as Guinea Pigs, Rats and Mice, Rabbits, Ferrets and, Hamsters to the more unusual like Lizards, Spiders, Frogs and Snakes etc. can make a great pet for you.
It’s very essential that you know how to train those pets. Training not only develops a bond with your pets but also allows your pets to see you in a new light. Training encourages them to use their brain. The most important aspect is that you start training them as soon as you get one. If it is a puppy, it can begin learning by its 8th week when you bring it home. As for any new older dog, this training gets your relationship started right. You must patiently and consistently train your pets with motivation. Dogs learn better and faster when motivated. They need to be brought consistently in touch with different people, places, animals, and things so that they do not develop behavioral concern. Rewarding good behavior will be the most effective tool you
have in training your pets.
There are many other things to consider like the personalities of the pets. You can research through the internet and can choose the perfect pet for you and your family. If you have young kids, pick an animal that is tolerant of kids. This is especially important aspect to consider since puppies and cats need a lot of attention while they are growing up. If you are adventurous then a dog can be your perfect companion. Just you have to ensure that they fit into your lifestyle and you can adjust to their needs. The environment that you are going to provide to them is an essential aspect. Birds must not be kept near the kitchen; dogs need room to run around, cats constantly climb on top of everything. Also, if you’re on a busy street with a lot of traffic, an animal that needs a lot of outdoor time may have a short-lived existence as a family pet.
Look and research into each and every aspect before buying a pet. The age of your children must also be looked into while buying a pet for your family. Thus, take into account all the aspects and find yourself a pet that suits you and your family.

What do you do with your pets when going on vacation?
We rarely go on vacation but this year we are planning a trip to Europe for a month. Have a dog and two cats. We are new to this town and don’t really know anyone. What would be the best thing to do with our pets? If you know the name of a website etc. please include that as well. Thank you very much for any help.
I would ask a local Vet if they knew of a service in the area. Would not leave them in a Vets clinic though, they are left alone too much anc caged. Best scenario is to find leave the Pets in their home and have someone come there. But make sure you put valuables in a bank deposit box for peace of mind. My neighbor hired two local people to make sure that they were taken care of incase one "forgot." How about talking to co-workers to see if they know of a responsible teen that can do it for you?
Good Luck
Pets On Vacation: Easy
Family vacations used to involve Parents, the Kids, and sometimes Grandma. These days, taking a family vacation might also mean bringing Fido along for the ride.
Taking Pets on vacation might seem like a great idea. After all, who would enjoy the endless expanse of tropical beach more than your Frisbee-catching golden retriever? But to make it a great vacation for everyone, you need to look after every detail and prepare for any situation.
Getting There
If you’re traveling in the car, be sure that your pet will be comfortable for the entire trip. Nothing spoils a family vacation quite like a dog with motion sickness. Plan ahead to help your pet become familiar with long journeys. Start with short trips to get both of you used to traveling together, and then gradually increase the length of your drives. Stick to your regular feeding routine, and wait until you’ve arrived at your destination to give your pet a big meal. Dry food is more convenient to use while traveling. Finally, never let your pet ride on your lap while you’re driving. It’s dangerous for you, for the animal and for everyone else on the road.
If, on the other hand, you’ll be traveling by bus, boat, train or airplane, check for rules and restrictions and make arrangements for your pet while you’re booking your tickets.
Don’t Put Yourself in the Doghouse
Taking your pets on vacation is only half the battle. You also need to keep them on vacation, so be sure that your hosts or holiday accommodations will welcome your furry friend. If you’re staying with friends or family, be considerate. Ask in advance if your pet is welcome, and expect an honest answer. Some people are allergic or just uncomfortable around animals. If you’ve booked a hotel room or campsite, make sure that pets are allowed on the premises.
Stay Boy, Stay
The reality of taking pets on vacation is that you will likely not be with them every hour of every day. Chances are, your pet will not be welcome in the hotel dining room, in the amusement park, on the ski lift or aboard the fishing charter. There will be times when your pet will have to stay alone. If your pet is prone to barking, make other arrangements as a courtesy to other hotel guests. When you leave the pet in the room, make sure that you place the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door, and tell the hotel supervisor or housekeeping staff what is going on. A portable kennel is useful at times like these, especially if you’re staying in someone’s home.
May I See Some I.D?
Your pet needs to be properly tagged, whether you’re traveling by car or by plane. Make sure that he or she has a current tag containing the proper identification. We’ve all seen those tear-jerking tales of animals that find their way home from the other side of the country, but you don’t want to risk having it happen to your pet. Bring along a copy of your pet’s medical history, including medications and recent immunization. This information is essential is crossing state or international borders. Tell your vet that you’re planning to travel, just to be sure that your pet can handle it.
Pack for Your Pet
Don’t forget Fido while your family is getting ready for vacation. Having pets groomed before vacation time helps them look neat and tidy, and makes them more comfortable for the trip. Pack along your pet’s favorite food dish, snacks and toys to make him or her feel more at home and relaxed.
Your pet is one of the family, so naturally you want to include him or her in your family vacation plans. If done successfully, bringing pets on vacation can be a fun experience for all of you. Think ahead and you’ll all have a tail-wagging good time!
